Product Name: TMTECK TC-200 Crack Detector

Short Description: Detects and measures surface cracks in steel and other materials, even under thick protective coatings, making it an ideal choice for various industrial applications.

Inspect: This device is used in a wide range of applications, including:

  • Bridges, buildings, and other structural inspections
  • Amusement park rides
  • Mining and earth-moving equipment
  • Cranes and other lifting equipment
  • Ships, tanks, and military hardware
  • Pipelines, pressure vessels, and oil field equipment
  • Signal light masts, and more

Key Features:

  • Detects cracks under thick coatings without needing to remove them
  • Simple to use with minimal training required
  • Indicates crack severity (depth) and accurately finds the crack tip
  • Economical and fast, scanning a foot of weld in just 10 seconds
  • Minimizes the need for dye penetrant and magnetic particle inspection
  • Cost-effective compared to eddy current and ACFM instruments
  • Lightweight (0.6 lb. or 300 gr.) and no consumables needed
  • 14-hour battery life and a water-resistant case (IP-65)

Setup Instructions:

  • Place a plastic shim of similar thickness to your coating on the test block.
  • Position the probe over a defect-free area and press the "balance" button.
  • Rotate the probe so that the finger grip is parallel to the notch.
  • Scan the probe over the appropriate notch in the test block and adjust the sensitivity buttons as needed.

Operation Guidelines:

  • Plate and Pipe: Scan the area of interest in a zigzag pattern, repeat at 90 degrees.
  • Welds: Place the probe over the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) adjacent to the weld and scan the length of the weld. Move the probe 1/8 inch (3 mm) and repeat until 1/2 inch (12.5 mm) on either side of the weld is covered.
  • Weld Crown: Scan the weld crown in a zigzag pattern. Use a plastic sheet or tape over rough welds for easier scanning.

Theory of Operation: The probe features a transmitter and receiver. The transmitter creates a stable AC magnetic field in the test material, which is disrupted by a crack. The receiver, a proprietary semi-conductor magneto-sensitive device, detects and measures the resultant magnetic flux leakage, indicating the presence and severity of a crack.
