YT2001 Advanced Acoustic Imager & Leak Detector

The YT2001 Advanced Acoustic Imager is a handheld industrial acoustic imaging camera designed to visually locate sound and ultrasonic sources.

Using a 136-channel MEMS digital microphone array, the YT2001 converts acoustic energy into a real-time visual heat map overlaid on the camera image, allowing technicians to quickly identify the exact location of compressed-air and gas leaks, abnormal sound sources and electrical partial discharge.

With an effective detection distance of 0.3–100 m, a frequency range extending to 65 kHz and real-time PRPD partial-discharge analysis, the YT2001 provides a fast, non-contact tool for predictive maintenance, energy-loss reduction and electrical inspection.

Key Features

  • 136-channel MEMS digital microphone array
  • Real-time acoustic imaging
  • Dynamic sound-source heat map
  • 25 FPS image refresh rate
  • Effective detection distance: 0.3–100 m
  • Sound pressure range: 30–120 dB
  • Frequency range: 1 kHz–65 kHz

  • Dedicated sound-source recognition
  • Real-time PRPD partial discharge analysis
  • Non-contact ultrasonic inspection
  • Suitable for noisy industrial environments
  • Designed for rapid scanning of large areas

Main Inspection Modes

Application What the YT2001 Does
Compressed Air Leak Detection Visually locates escaping compressed air and estimates the leak rate
Gas Leak Detection Detects ultrasonic turbulence generated by pressurised gas escaping through leaks
Partial Discharge Detection Uses ultrasonic imaging and PRPD analysis to locate developing electrical insulation faults
Sound Source Identification Displays the location of audible or ultrasonic noise directly on the live image
Machinery Investigation Helps locate abnormal acoustic sources in operating industrial equipment

Compressed Air & Gas Leak Detection

Compressed-air leaks can be difficult to locate in a working factory because background machinery noise can mask the sound of a leak.

The YT2001 uses its microphone array and adjustable frequency filtering to isolate high-frequency leak noise and display its location directly on the screen.

Unlike a conventional ultrasonic probe, the operator can scan an entire area from a distance rather than checking every fitting individually.

The system can also provide real-time leak-rate estimation, helping maintenance teams identify and prioritise the most significant leaks.

Typical leak locations

  • Compressed-air fittings
  • Pneumatic tubing
  • Valves
  • Flanges
  • Couplings
  • Regulators
  • Hose connections
  • Gas systems
  • Vacuum systems
  • Process equipment

Partial Discharge Detection

The YT2001 also provides a dedicated PRPD – Phase Resolved Partial Discharge analysis mode.

Electrical partial discharge can generate ultrasonic energy before a serious insulation failure becomes visible. The YT2001 allows electrical technicians to scan equipment from a distance and visually identify concentrated ultrasonic activity.

Typical applications include:

  • Switchgear
  • Distribution panels
  • Transformers
  • Bushings
  • Insulators
  • High-voltage connections
  • Electrical substations
  • Preventive maintenance inspections

Acoustic Imaging

The YT2001 uses 136 MEMS microphones to determine the direction and intensity of incoming sound.

The resulting acoustic information is displayed as a visual overlay on the live image, allowing the operator to see where the acoustic energy is originating.

A 25 FPS refresh rate allows the imager to follow both steady and intermittent sound sources in real time.
