MR® 214 Magnetic Powder Composition

Description
MR® 214 is a black magnetic powder with ferromagnetic particles, designed for wet magnetic particle testing according to EN ISO 9934-1. The powder is water-suspendable and already contains additives such as a wetting agent, defoamer, and corrosion inhibitor.

• Processing temperature: +10 °C to +50 °C

• Dilution: 15–20 g/L in water

Dilution & Sedimentation (per 100 ml / 0.5 h)

• 1:100 → ca. 0.50–0.60 ml sediment

• 1:50 → ca. 1.20–1.30 ml sediment (ASTM E1444/1444M compliant)

• 1:25 → ca. 2.35–2.45 ml sediment (ASTM E1444/1444M compliant)

Other dilutions are possible.

Application

1. Remove rust, tinder, and contaminants from the surface.

2. Dilute 15–20 g/L in water.

3. Apply a thin layer of MR® White Contrast Paint (max 40 μm) and allow to dry.

4. Spray MR® 214 onto the surface during magnetization (e.g., with an MR® Hand Yoke).

5. Discontinuities will appear as black particle indications on the white surface.

6. After inspection, clean with MR® 71 Paint Remover.

Shelf Life
Minimum 4 years when stored at room temperature.
